MEDICAL ADMINSTRATOR VACANCY

Hours: Flexible - minimum 20 hours per week, up to 35 hours

Salary: £29,770 - £31,993 pro rata (includes Distant Islands Allowance)

Hourly rate: £16.31 - £17.53 per hour

We are looking for a friendly, outgoing and motivated individual to join our team at Stromness Surgery.

This post can be offered on a part-time or full-time basis, working between 20 and 35 hours per week. Essential cover is required on a Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday and Friday. The practice is open Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 6.00pm. As part of a small, supportive team a degree of flexibility is required to assist with holiday and sickness cover, ensuring the surgery remains fully operational during core opening hours.

The successful candidate will provide a wide range of reception and administrative duties. You will act as a key point of contact for patients and play an important role in communication between patients, doctors and other members of the practice team. The ability to manage a varied workload, prioritise tasks effectively and handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner is essential.

Good communication skills are required and initial and ongoing training will be provided.

TRAVEL - HOSPITALS OUTWITH ORKNEY

Patients who have hospital appointments outwith Orkney should contact The Balfour’s Travel Admin Department to make travel arrangements.

Patients will be asked for proof of appointment when making a booking which can be done by email, face to face or shown to staff at Stromness Surgery.

PRESCRIPTION PHONE LINE

We now have a dedicated telephone line for repeat prescriptions.  The telephone number is 301130. This number is for prescription requests only, please do not leave any other query or information on this line as it will be discarded. We only now accept requests through this number or the online system (Do not phone 850205 to order prescriptions).  Please allow 4 days for your prescription to be processed at the Stromness Pharmacy.  If you want your prescription to be sent to Boots in Kirkwall, please allow 7 days.  If you wish to collect your repeat prescription from the Surgery please leave 24 hours before collection.  We appreciate your co-operation.
