Job Description

SALARIED GP

Permanent position

£10K+ per session per year

6 sessions per week with option for additional hyperbaric medicine role

Stromness is a beautiful town on the West side of Orkney. It is rich in art and musical culture with its narrow street "uncoiling like a sailor's rope" (George Mackay Brown). Herriot Watt University have a campus with a large focus on renewables. The pretty harbour is a hub for fishing, leisure vessels, the ferry across the Pentland Firth and the Scapa Flow wreck divers.

The surgery team here believe in realistic medicine - preserving a long legacy of cradle-to-grave care, rooted in caring for patients as individuals and valuing the community as a whole. While pressing on to keep this type of holistic rural practice high quality, up to date and exciting to the next generation of trainees.

Following a rewarding career, one GP partner of 20 years is now planning retirement -might you be the right GP to fill this vacancy and complement the team?

Solid team working makes this a safe and welcoming place for those early on in their career or more experienced GPs who are new to remote and rural practice. It would, of course, be perfectly suited for a past rural fellow.
